Camping in Grand Style

My older sister Ronda and her family met us in Jackson, WY to camp at Grand Teton National Park. I should add that they camped for real and we did Faux camping. Meaning, when we arrived in Jackson we rented a camper trailer that we parked at the campsite and pushed a button to push out the sides of the RV and oila! We had enough beds to sleep all my family plus 3 of Ronda's girls. We also had a stove, kitchen sink, and a teeny-tiny bathroom. It was fun. However, next time we camp, I think we'll do it for real, in a tent. Anyway we had a blast with the Loveridges and Grand Teton National Park is so beautiful! We all can't wait until we go back next summer, and Next time we will stay longer.
Aunt Ronda met Felicity for the first time and Felicity loved her. Ronda tried her hand at the sleep wrap and loved holding Felicity while we walked around "Old Faithful" in Yellow stone.
The kids weren't too impressed with "Old Faithful" Quincey called it "Old Boring"
This Pic of the kid is in "Ye Old Faithful Lodge" or it could have been called "Yellowstone Lodge" any how it was built in the 1920's and is a pretty cool building.
Jacob and Ever have a Blast together!

We Saw this Elk on the Side of the road in Yellowstone. Chad wanted to get out and take a pic. with it. Lia Belle was in Ronda's car in front of us and she about had a heart attack at her parents who were joining the "Stupid" People out of their cars so close to the Elk. I had just read her a pamphlet about how far away from wild animals you should stay. She is my rule follower.
Cute Quincey, ready to roast a hot dog.
 Felicity LOVES Eden!
Phoebe Kate, enjoying her hot dog and the campfire.
Our 12th Anniversary was on July 15th, the Sunday we were in the Tetons. So Chad and I rented a little fishing boat and left the kids with Aunt Ronda. We had a nice relaxing, quiet boat ride enjoying the scenery and fishing. Chad even caught a fish.

 LOOK AT THAT SCENERY!
We took the kids on a nice little hike around Jenny Lake. We were on the look out for animals. We had seen signs and warnings to watch for Bears, Moose and Elk. We really wanted to see a bear. Uncle Shane bought some bear spray to protect his family while hiking. ( They planned to stay longer and hike in more remote areas after we left.)
We did some moose a ways off the path. And we came upon some people who saw a bear on the same path we were on, but the bear was pretty far down the mountain side when we arrived and he was hard to see. At the end of our hike we had the option to take a ferry ride back across the lake or to hike back. Chd and I took the little girls, Romey, Lia Belle, Phoebe and Felicity on the Ferry and Ronda and her big girls and Jacob decided to hike back and see if they can beat us. We got on the Ferry in beautiful Weather.
Then 2 minutes later the sky looked like this.
And then the boat driver said, "Hold on!" and he took off as fast as this little ferry would go to get us out of the downpour. Too bad for the people running down the trail yelling "Please! WAIT FOR US!!"
Chad huddled up with the girls. while I took pictures and worried about Jacob and the others hiking back in the rain. I found out later that they had a more exciting hike than just getting wet. As they were hiking they heard a rustle in the trees just off the path. Uncle Shane made them stop and a Black Bear walked right across their  path in front of them. They were all too scared to take a picture! Can you believe it? The bear just crossed the trail and kept walking down the mountainside, never paying them any attention. It was right at this moment that they were all staring in shock at the bear that just crossed their path when the rain storm hit them. They were frantically trying to put on their ponchos while keeping a look out for the bear that was close by. They made it back safely and Chad was so jealous that he didn't get to see the bear. I was too.
Later that night we cooked up Chad's fish. Everyone who tasted it said it was good.

I have 2 comments:

1) LOOK ANNIE! It's the Continental Divide! Again! Ha!

2) I think that Eden was Felicity's age the last time I saw her. Wow. Has it really been that long? Crazy.
