Thanks Giving

Last year I posted a lot of "Thankful" posts. This year,I feel that so many things have changed and I haven't had a lot of time to think about anything else except finding a home. Today at church we sang a few songs about Thanksgiving. I love these hymns. Here are the words to "Count your Blessings", hymn #241.

1. When upon life’s billows you are tempest-tossed,
When you are discouraged, thinking all is lost,
Count your many blessings; name them one by one,
And it will surprise you what the Lord has done.

[Chorus]
Count your blessings;
Name them one by one.
Count your blessings;
See what God hath done.
Count your blessings;
Name them one by one.
Count your many blessings;
See what God hath done.

2. Are you ever burdened with a load of care?
Does the cross seem heavy you are called to bear?
Count your many blessings; ev’ry doubt will fly,
And you will be singing as the days go by.

3. When you look at others with their lands and gold,
Think that Christ has promised you his wealth untold.
Count your many blessings; money cannot buy
Your reward in heaven nor your home on high.

4. So amid the conflict, whether great or small,
Do not be discouraged; God is over all.
Count your many blessings; angels will attend,
Help and comfort give you to your journey’s end.

Text: Johnson Oatman, Jr., 1856–1922

Music: Edwin O. Excell, 1851–1921

I love the last verse. Our lives are filled with so many conflicts, mostly small ones, when you look at the big pictures. And it is so easy to become discouraged. When I take time to count my blessings, I see that the conflicts in my life have brought the most amazing blessings.

I hope this week of Thanksgiving, that you all can find the blessings in your conflicts and remember that God IS over all. He will comfort and help you to your journey's end.

Well I am thankful you live near me again. It's nice to know you are there, and that we can get together for things.
